In statements to Prensa Latina, Sánchez noted the APD’s solidarity with the Revolution and applauded Cuba’s new victory at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, when the world strongly rejected Washington’s blockade.
He highlighted Cuba’s solidarity with the world’s noblest causes and defended that every country has the sovereign right to choose its future.
Sánchez reaffirmed that as long as the US blockade is in place, the Party will oppose this unjust unilateral measure that does so much harm to the development of Cuba and its families.
Since 1992, the international community has ratified the rejection of this policy, strengthened to unprecedented levels during the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic with the aim of causing Cuba’s economic collapse.
On Thursday, Cuba’s Resolution, entitled “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba,” was approved at the UN with 187 votes in favor, two against (United States and Israel) and one abstention (Ukraine).
Hours before the vote, the Alliance for Democracy Party, presided by Max Puig, had called on the Dominican Government and all Latin American countries to vote against Washington’s blockade.
