“Belize once again places on record its unequivocal condemnation of the unilateral blockade against Cuba, which is a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law, and undermines the principles of multilateralism to which we are all committed,” the representative of Belize said at the UN General Assembly.
“We also reject Cuba’s inclusion on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, as it is a measure that only exacerbates the inhumane consequences of these sanctions,” he added.
“The blockade against Cuba has a deliberate effect of impeding the country’s recovery; however, despite its consequences, Cuba’s spirit of resilience, inventiveness, generosity and brotherhood, has characterized its commitment to Belize and developing countries worldwide,” he stated.
“Cuba is a force for good will and development in our region and we reiterate our call to the United States to lift the blockade,” he concluded.
