Cuba denounces difficulties in accessing fuel due to US blockade

New Delhi, Nov 1 (Prensa Latina) The inhumane blockade imposed by the United States prevents Cuba from accessing the financial resources necessary for acquiring fuels to generate electricity, Cuban First Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines Argelio Abad said in this capital.

Speaking to Prensa Latina regarding Cuba’s participation in the 6th Session of the General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which winds up in India this Wednesday, the first deputy minister denounced that this consequence of the US illegal policy affects the population.

Abad stressed that, despite the economic, commercial, and financial siege, the Cuban Government is working to eliminate the dependence on fossil fuels by using renewable energy.

Since March 2018, Cuba, as a full ISA member, has been working to implement projects based on these national goals, the official said.

We aim to reach up to 30 percent of generation using renewable energy by 2030 and replace 100 percent of fossil fuels with that clean alternative between 2040 and 2050, he detailed. Abad added that Cuba is immersed in several projects to benefit it with ISA, which reflects the Alliance’s interest in continuing to support it.
