Peruvians confident of Cuba´s new victory over US blockade

Lima, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) The Peru-Cuba Solidarity Movement on Tuesday encouraged an imminent victory at UNGA against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

The solidarity organization reaffirmed its firm stance in support of Cuba through a statement related to the debate, for the 30th time, of the project “Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America on Cuba”.

The project recalls the resolution, which will begin to be debated on Wednesday, has historically been backed by nearly unanimous support, proving the recognition of the Cuban cause of ending the U.S. blockade.

It also condemns that such a policy has been tightened since 2019 tin order to reach “a qualitatively more harmful and inhuman dimension”, and is a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of Cuban people.

“The US blockade represents the most unjust, severe system of unilateral coercive measures ever applied over any country,” and is the main hurdle to Cuba’s economic and social development, it adds.

“In the context of the global health, energy, food and environmental crisis, Cuba has been facing up the unprecedented tightening of the U.S. blockade.”

The Solidarity Movement also condemns the attack on all of Cuba’s sources of income, the intimidation and extortion of third parties and the strengthening of pressures on governments, banking institutions and businessmen around the world as an essential part of Washington’s strategy against Cuba. pll/rgh/mrs
