No blockade is better for Cuba, U.S. and the whole world

Mexico City, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) No blockade is better for Cuba, the United States and the entire world, the Cuban Ambassador to Mexico, Marcos Rodriguez, stated.

Journalists from manifold domestic media outlets were present at the press release in which the Cuban diplomat recalled that the debate on the proposed resolution to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for over 60 years begins this Wednesday.

The Cuban diplomat condemned that the US government continues to ignore the UNGA resolutions and go against the whole world, in spite of the fact that President Joe Biden has prerogatives he does not use to alleviate and practically lift the hostile and unjust blockade as well as to establish a normal, respectful and equal relationship with Cuba.

On the contrary, he pointed out, Biden has kept unchanged the 243 measures applied by the previous administration of Donald Trump who reinstated Cuba on the spurious States Sponsoring of Terrorism (SST) list.

Rodriguez denounced that the US blockade was tightened in very serious moments of the Covid-19 pandemic and prevented Cuba from obtaining medicines and equipment, food and other merchandise, with the purpose of making the Cuban people surrender.

He claimed there is a worldwide rejection of the blockade as shown in the UN votes, but also in other international forums such as the recent conferences of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, the G77+China Summit and others that call for the immediate lifting of the blockade.
