Gil arrived in the capital of Ethiopia on Sunday from the Republic of the Congo after participating in the Three Basin Summit of Biodiversity Ecosystems and Tropical Forests.
Gil met on Monday with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen, and highlighted that both parties are at an ideal stage to take a further step towards bilateral exchange.
He explained that they agreed to soon launch the first Ethiopia-Venezuela Mixed Commission aimed at achieving areas of cooperation such as air transport, by considering an agreement between Ethiopian Airlines, one of the most powerful in the world, with Venezuela’s flagship airline Conviasa, to connect Latin America with Africa.
He also invited the Ethiopian Minister of Tourism, Seleshi Girma, to participate in the Venezuela Tourism Fair, to take place late next November.
On the other hand, Mekonne said that it is time to deepen traditional historical relations with Venezuela, and praised its constant and principled support in multilateral forums.
