El Salvador faces critical day due to the proximity of storm Pilar

San Salvador, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) El Salvador faces a critical day due to the proximity of the storm Pilar about 300 kilometers from its coasts, the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN), Fernando Lopez, said.

During an intervention in the interview program Frente a Frente of Telecorporación Salvadoreña, the Minister warned about the amount of rainfall due to its continuous fall in the last hours. This is the most critical day for the country under the State of National Emergency and red alert.

He explained that in some areas there may be volumes of rainfall of about 300 millimeters (mm) although the winds so far do not exceed 40 kilometers on land when Pilar has sustained records of 85 at sea where its center is located.

This Wednesday the storm will move slowly pushed by a cold front coming from continental territory although the rains will remain, the greatest danger for Salvadoran territory, he said.
