Cambodia holds day against US blockade of Cuba

Phnom Penh, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) Cambodia made evident its historic solidarity with Cuba by holding a day against the US blockade.

Members of the Cuba Solidarity Movement, Cuban collaborators, Cubans residing in Cambodia, faculty and university students, participated in the activities.

Flags of Cambodia and Cuba were raised at Wat Non, the largest natural elevation in the city, in support not only of the demand for the end of the blockade but also for the exclusion of Cuba from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.

The vice president of the Association of Cambodian Graduates in Cuba, Bun Therun, expressed his support for Cuba, hours away from the presentation to the United Nations General Assembly, of a resolution calling for the end of the blockade over the island.

The Cuban ambassador to Cambodia, Liurka Rodríguez, met with students and professors from the Paññasatra University of Cambodia, to whom she offered a detailed explanation of the impact of the undeclared war against Cuba, whose genocidal nature has affected the lives of millions of Cubans for over 60 years.

During the meeting, attendees asked numerous questions about the impact of the blockade on various sectors of Cuban life, including health.

The UN General Assembly will consider on November 1st and 2nd the draft resolution on the need to end the US blockade, which Cuba presented on another 30 occasions, and which was invariably approved with the broadest international support, which the United States insists on ignoring.
