Latin American reporters defend multilateralism

Bogota, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) The need to strengthen multilateralism to achieve a fairer world commercial system was defended on Monday here during the opening of an encounter attended by Latin American journalists.

In those terms, the Colombian Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism German Umaña expressed his opinion and welcomed participants of the Seminar for specialized press professionals on economic information, arranged by the World Commerce Organization.

Umaña called attention on the need to preserve the organization’s democratic spirit, just in the time that war conflicts prevail nationwide, and warned of the unproportionable power of wealthy countries to veto or prevent proposals in defence of multilateralism and human rights.

The Seminar for specialized reporters on economic information is held from Monday to Wednesday, November 1st , and several professionals attend from Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Peru, Argentina, among others.
