Cuba province prepares conditions for sugar harvest

Matanzas, Cuba, Oct 30 (Prensa Latina) Repairs in industries and the planting of sugarcane stand out among the conditions that the Cuban province of Matanzas is preparing for the upcoming sugarcane harvest, scheduled to begin in December.

The Mario Muñoz and Jesús Rabí Agroindustrial companies will start up the harvest in the territory, as part of 25 sugar mills that will operate nationwide in order to produce acceptable volumes of sugar.

According to www.radio26.cu, the incorporation of thirty workers from the Mexico sugar mill at the Mario Muñoz factory, who will contribute to improving the current indicator of repairs to more than 80 percent, stands out among the actions undertaken in recent times in the sugar mills.

Regarding sugarcane planting, the biggest efforts are directed to the units of the Mario Muñoz Agroindustrial Company, with emphasis on replanting and cultural attention to each of the plantations.

The website pointed out that during recent visits by top government authorities to factories, attention to workers, the organization of labor groups by areas and brigades, the signing of the code of ethics, compliance with the plan for protection and confrontation with crime, and diversification in production were among the issues reviewed in pursuit of the success of the harvest.

Matanzas is expected to fulfill the 35,000-ton sugar production plan, a significant percentage of which will be allocated to the province’s regulated family basket in 2024.
