The opening of the event, held at the Cuban Embassy, was in charge of Ambassador Miguel Angel Ramirez, who stressed that Japanese tourism to Cuba has recovered gradually since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He stressed that Cuba’s unjust inclusion on the State Sponsors of Terrorism list limits the Japanese citizens’ freedom to visit Cuba, in which cases they would be excluded from the visa exemption program to visit the United States.
“Despite these adverse circumstances, we must continue to work to ensure that more Japanese holidaymakers travel to Cuba and enjoy its heritage, cultural and natural values, just to name a few,” he said.
Among participants was Kazuhiro Fukushima, director of Sales, Planning and Tourism of the Japan Association of Travel Agencies (JATA).
