Tourists start to leave Acapulco thanks to airlift (+Photo)

Mexico City, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) Tourists stranded in Acapulco after violent Hurricane Otis, which damaged 80 percent of the hotels in this international coastal resort, are leaving the area on Friday thanks to an airlift.

The recovery of the control tower of the airport and the cleaning and rehabilitation of two runways have allowed visual operations to be piloted, and establish the airlift with Mexico City, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation informed.

Previously, the General Director of Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, Ricardo Dueñas, informed that the airport was closed until now and protected by the National Guard to guarantee the cleaning and recovery of the facilities.

At the same time, there will also be departures by road, for which two departure points have been set up: La Venta toll booth and the Costa Azul church, with buses that will take holidaymakers to the South station, in Taxqueña, Mexico City.

Aeromexico will carry out operations with civil and military authorities to transport its clients, as well as other groups of the population who need it most, the company said.
