France reports slight increase in unemployment

Paris, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) The French government reported a 0.6-percent increase in unemployment in the third quarter in category A, reserved for full-time job seekers with more than one month of seniority.

According to data released by the Ministry of Labor, the number of jobless people in that period totaled 3.28 million nationwide.

However, when comparing the rate of unemployed in category A with the one recorded in the same quarter of last year, it decreased 3.8 percent.

When considering categories B and C (individuals with a part-time or temporary contract, seeking to improve their employment situation), the total number of French people affected by unemployment climbed to 5,352,000.

That figure accounts for an increase of 0.2 percent in the third quarter and a year-on-year decrease of 1.3.

When taking into account only the situation in metropolitan France, the total number of unemployed workers in all three categories is 5,760,600.
