We are delighted to express that this donation keeps alive that feeling and solidarity that are unique, as the unusual ties and brotherhood existing between our two countries, Ariadne Feo Labrada, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, said.
While thanking Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Province for the donation, the diplomat stressed that the Vietnamese political authorities and people’s support of her country is permanent and unconditional.
She also recalled that historically, the Cuban Communist Party, Government, and people have supported the heroic struggle of Vietnam for its final liberation and reunification and the reconstruction tasks of the country devastated by decades of war.
She highlighted that one of the results of the first visit of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to Vietnam in the middle of the war in September 1973 was the decision to donate five important infrastructure works to support its socio-economic development.
The consul general also referred to the recent interview given by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, in which he stated that Cuba is living in a situation of maximum tension, aggravated by the tightening of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the United States.
