During the opening of the event hosted by the Addis Ababa Science Museum, the Minister of Labor and Skills Muferiat Kamil said that Africa is home of enormous and untapped talents.
Kamil said the awards for startups (emerging companies with great potential for growth through the use of new technologies) in Africa serve as a platform to show the best experiences and learn from each other.
For his part, the head of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, said that the Ethiopian government recognizes that the initiatives of these companies are fundamental for the current and future development of the country.
Molla reaffirmed the commitment to collaborate with all stakeholders to properly implement the start-up initiatives.
The event will show the immense potential and innovative spirit of African entrepreneurs.
Out of 8,277 participants from the continent and 71 regional winners, the awards in Ethiopia will recognize the top 15 startups.
The official website of the summit under the theme ‘Building Innovative Nations’, highlights the vital role of visionary leadership, dynamic policies and an enriching ecosystem in fostering innovation.
