The PRD elected Vargas yesterday as its presidential candidate for the elections to be held in May 2024.
His election took place during the meeting of the Political Commission of the National Executive Committee of this opposition party, which also completed the process of registering the candidacies for popularly elected posts at the municipal and congressional levels.
In a note sent to the press, the PRD indicated that over the last month it has been working at full pace in the selection of candidates and, in this sense, pointed out that last Sunday it held its conventional assemblies for this purpose.
Yesterday Vargas told the convention attendees that he accepted the challenge of being the PRD candidate and expressed his confidence that with the support of the PRD militancy and followers, he will have a victorious performance in 2024.
