After enjoying the soundtrack of the film directed by Jorge Luis Sánchez and starring Renny Arozarena, the screening finished with a Mojito tasting and a Cuban “conga” music.
Before ambassadors, other diplomats, filmmakers, and members of the Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in La Paz, Mela Márquez, director of the Cinematheque, thanked those who attended the film exhibit.
Ana María Suárez, responsible for cultural and academic affairs at the Cuban Embassy, highlighted the awards won by this film, which depicts a facet of the life and work of Bartolomé Maximiliano Moré (Benny) (1919-1963).
Cuban Ambassador to Bolivia, Danilo Sánchez, in turn, thanked the Group of Latin American and Caribbean (GRULAC) for its collaboration and efforts to guarantee a high-quality exhibition this year.
The diplomat stressed that the screening of “El Benny” takes place in the context of Cuba’s Culture Day, which commemorates the 155th anniversary of the first time the Cuban National Anthem was sung in public in the city of Bayamo, eastern Cuba, on October 20, 1868.
