In his account in X, Rodriguez appreciated the pronouncement of the State Duma (Lower House of Parliament) to put an end to the unjust and criminal economic, commercial and financial siege, which has lasted for more than six decades and has a negative impact on the economy and the Cubans’ welfare.
Yesterday, the president of the Russian legislative body, Vyacheslav Volodin, declared that the United States will have to compensate Cuba for the losses caused by the blockade.
Volodin recalled that last year the UN General Assembly, for the 30th time, approved with 185 countries in favor and only the United States and Israel against a resolution in favor of lifting the blockade, Volodin said, according to the Sputnik news agency.
During a plenary meeting of the Duma, which approved the draft appeal on the cessation of coercive measures against Cuba, the parliamentary leader affirmed that Washington has done colossal damage to Cuba and will have to compensate it, ‘representing 159 billion dollars’, he said.
