Russia does not fear new sanctions from the West

Moscow, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) Russia managed to adapt to Western sanctions and does not fear new restrictions, Presidential Spokesman Dmitri Peskov said on Tuesday.

“Russia has lived in a sanction regime for quite a long time, in fact, for decades and, therefore, we have adapted to it. Therefore, we are not frightened at all”, Peskov told the Sputnik news agency.

The spokesman stressed that these measures have allowed Russia to follow the path of development, and regarding new sanctions, he assured that “it only remains to wait what else the opponents in the West will create in this regard.”

On Monday, the European Union’s special representative for sanctions, David O’Sullivan, said that he does not foresee any rapid lifting of anti-Russia sanctions, even if hostilities in Ukraine were to cease. The official added that the Group of Seven (G7) will soon propose new sanctions that would prevent avoiding “the price cap” for Russia’s oil exports.

According to the Castellum.AI database, more than 15,100 individual and sectoral sanctions have been activated in relation to Russia for the duration of the hostilities with Ukraine.

Hundreds of companies have announced the decision to suspend their business in and with Russia since February 2022.
