The information was provided on Tuesday, at the morning press conference at the National Palace, by the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Ruy López Ridaura, who replaced Hugo López-Gatell, who is running to lead the Government of Mexico City.
Lopez Ridaura explained that this is a combined influenza and Covid-19 vaccine campaign, the latter with Cuba’s Abdala and Russia’s Sputnik V vaccines, whose efficacy has already been more than proven.
He added that on this occasion it is not a universal vaccination, but only the population at risk, the first group of them being the elderly over 60 years of age, and a week ago the campaign began in all 32 federal states.
Lopez Ridaura noted that 19.4 million citizens are expected to be vaccinated. There is a second unquantified group from 5 to 69 years of age that may be at risk, and two other groups, including healthcare personnel and pregnant women, who are also at high risk.
