In his morning press briefing at the National Palace, López Obrador was asked about the complaints by Norma Piña, president of the Supreme Court of Justice, that the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) party vetoed her to defend in the Senate the 13 trusts eliminated by the Government, amounting to more than 890 million dollars.
The president responded that what Piña was looking for was more for show than anything else and provoked disrespect to complicate things, justifying what they were doing and arguing their enormous benefits.
He stated that going to the Senate or the Chamber of Deputies to explain why they earn the equivalent of 40,000 dollars a month is not necessary, without counting the benefits of the trusts and other income they have and hiding those illegalities with gossip.
They should explain what the extraordinary work they do it for, and explain why there is so much corruption in the judiciary, why they release so many organized and economic criminals, and why there are so many people in prison with 10 or 15 years without a sentence, López Obrador said.
The head of State recalled that the other powers have contributed to these trusts because they are not used, and everything is covered with the regular annual budget, and why they are not.
