Cuba reaffirms commitment to United Nations Charter

Havana, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reaffirmed Cuba's firm commitment to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter on Tuesday, when the anniversary of that international integration organization is being celebrated.

In his X account, the head of Cuban diplomacy ratified the Cuban Government’s attachment to International Law and the defense of multilateralism, on the basis of a democratic, fair and equitable international order.

This international order promoted by the United Nations must guarantee peace, justice and development for all peoples, Rodríguez added.

On this day in 1945, the UN was officially created after the majority of its founding members ratified a treaty establishing the world body.

In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly approved a resolution recommending that Member States consider October 24 as an official holiday on United Nations Day.

The day is commemorated worldwide with meetings, debates and presentations on the Organization’s goals and achievements.
