Spokeswoman Mao Ning congratulated Venezuela for the progress in the national dialogue.

“We have always firmly upheld the United Nations Charter and the basic regulations of international relations, and we are opposed to the imposition of illegal unilateral sanctions and the so-called long-arm jurisdiction on Venezuela by relevant countries,” Mao added.

The spokeswoman called on Washington to “stop interfering immediately and completely” in the internal affairs of Venezuela, “eliminate the illegal unilateral sanctions” against this and other nations, and “act in the interest of world peace, stability, and development.”

The Venezuelan Government and the Unitary Platform opposition coalition recently resumed the dialogue process and reached an agreement on preliminary arrangements for the country’s 2024 general elections.

In addition to electoral and political guarantees, they agreed to defend foreign assets and support the historical, sovereign, and inalienable rights over Guyana’s Essequibo region.
