According to calculations made by Sputnik, and based on reports from the trade ministries of both nations, between January and August 2023, India imported goods from Russia worth 41.2 billion dollars, compared to 17.1 billion last year.
On the other hand, India’s exports to Russia increased by 50 percent in the same period, up to $2.6 billion.
As a result, bilateral trade reached the historical maximum of 43.8 billion in the first eight months of 2023, 130 percent more than in the same period of 2022.
In the first eight months of 2023, Russia was the second largest supplier to India and the fourth largest trading partner, after the United States, China, and the United Arab Emirates.
