BCR President Douglas Rodríguez disclosed this projection when presenting the economic results during the second quarter of 2023, taking into account the positive streak that shows that so far this year amounts above 600 million have been reported in almost all months.
Months such as March with 712 million, and May with 753.2 million dollars, support the forecast.
According to BCR data, the remittances accumulated in the first eight months of the year totaled 5.386 billion dollars, 5.3 percent above the amount reported in the same period of 2022, when 5.116 billion dollars were registered.
The BCR’s forecasts indicate that by the end of 2023, 258 million more in remittances might have been received than in the whole of last year, when 7.741 billion dollars were reported.
