On the Parliament’s account on X, Lazo congratulated the newspaper’s workers on the 58th anniversary of its founding by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
Also on X, the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) congratulated the workers of Juventud Rebelde.
On October 21, 1965, Fidel Castro announced the new publication, which had Revista Mella and Diario de la Tarde as its predecessors, in order to collect and continue the combative and exemplary traditions of the Cuban youth press.
The first issue of Juventud Rebelde circulated on October 22, 1965. It was a 16-page tabloid-size publication in three colors: red, blue and black.
