“Tribute to Alicia Alonso” is the title of the prestigious Cuban company’s show on Saturday evening, under the general direction of prima ballerina Viengsay Valdés.
During the new series of performances, to conclude on October 24, the audience has enjoyed the first act of “Coppelia,” the second act of “Swan Lake,” and the third act of “Don Quixote,” three classical ballet choreographies.
The celebrations of more than seven decades of the Cuban company are part of the “Jubilee Season,” as the BNC calls the extensive program of shows by the company, founded in 1948.
The BNC has exhibited its history through photos exhibitions, film screenings, and book launches.
These days, this emblematic Cuban cultural institution has resumed its meetings with Cubans at hospitals, schools, and workplaces to share, explain, and reveal its art, as during the times of Alicia, Fernando and Alberto Alonso.
