Maraton-deportivo-en-Santa-Clara
Santa Clara, Cuba, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) More than 400 runners of all ages participated in the Hasta la Victoria Siempre (Until Victory Forever) Marathon Race in honor of Ernesto Guevara in this central Cuban city on Saturday.

For 26 years, Santa Clara, the capital of the Cuban province of Villa Clara and known worldwide as Che’s city, has kept the remains of the Argentinean-Cuban commander who was killed in Bolivia in 1967 during the guerrilla war.

Runners completed a circuit of more than two kilometers that started before the Augusto Cesar Sandino Stadium and went through Ana Pegudo Street, Primera Street, and Pope Francis Avenue to return to the starting point.

Julio Antonio Román, provincial director of Sports for All, told Prensa Latina on Saturday that more than results, they oked for people’s participation, especially senior citizens in a city that is one of the oldest in Cuba.

Parallel to the race, the famous Sarabanda Festival took place with the participation of children from 12 local elementary schools who performed dances of different genres through the expression of their bodies.
