Convened by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, th so-called Cairo Peace Summit will be held in the New Administrative Capital, some 45 kilometers from Cairo.
This week, El-Sisi stressed the importance of achieving results at the meeting to stop the current escalation, addressing the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and giving a strong impetus to the path of peace.
According to various sources, among the officials attending the meeting are: Presidents of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas; Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan; and South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, as well as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Other dignitaries are the Kings of Jordan, Abdallah II, and Bahrain, Hamed bin Isa Al Khalifa; the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Ministers of Iraq, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, Italy, Giorgia Meloni, and Spain, Pedro Sanchez.
Other officials at the Summit are German Chancellor Annelina Barbock, Foreign Ministers Catherine Colonna (France), James Calverley (United Kingdom), Yoko Kamikawa (Japan), and Aspen Barth Aida (Norway), and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
