Venezuelan President pays tribute to Diego Armando Maradona (+Photo)

Caracas, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro paid tribute to Argentine star Diego Armando Maradona on Friday, and recalled his beginnings as a soccer player.

On his X account, formerly Twitter, the head of State pointed out that “47 years ago a young Argentinean, barely 15 years old, made his debut as a professional soccer player.”

He expressed that he would later become a world champion and “one of the giants in the history of soccer, our eternal friend Diego Armando Maradona.”

In a video that accompanies the message, Commander Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) expressed his opinion, “Maradona, great Argentinean and world soccer star, what a great performance, great player and what a great human being.”

The Bolivarian leader noted that Diego “is much more than a soccer player,” great, a magician in the soccer field, who deserved to be world champion.

Chavez added that the Argentine soccer player is inscribed in that legion of men, of human beings, of men and women who fight for life. “Long live Maradona!” Maduro emphasized.

In the video, Maduro called Maradona an “extraordinary being so special,” for sports, soccer, joy and passion of the people, “our dear brother Diego Armando Maradona.”

He pointed out that expressed admiration for him, as we all do, as the best soccer player of all times, “thanking God and life for having known you, Diego of the people, Pelusa, the Golden Boy,” the president said.

“May the memory of Diego Armando Maradona live forever,” he stressed.
