Importance of trade agreement with China highlighted in Nicaragua

Managua, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Iván Acosta, highlighted the importance for Nicaragua of the signing last August of a trade agreement with China, which will enter into force in 2024.

During the presentation the day before in the plenary of the National Assembly (Parliament) of the annual bill of the general budget of the Republic for next year, the Minister recalled that this initiative opens a world of possibilities in economic terms.

Nicaraguan authorities stated at the beginning of September that one of the objectives of the signing of the Free Trade Agreement with China is to turn China into one of the main suppliers of raw materials, inputs, capital and consumer goods, machinery and equipment that are not produced here, besides becoming a buyer of Nicaraguan exports.

In the presentation of the draft budget, Acosta also referred to the growth forecast up to October, which is projected at 3,8% and is expected to be 4,2% for the same month next year.
