Paraguay’s food production is also important for global food security, according to QU Dongyu, FAO Director General.
Dongyu urged Paraguay to build a domestic agricultural brand for specific products and to promote it internationally through FAO as a platform and the “One Country, One Priority Product” initiative.
FAO’s congratulations to Paraguay were conveyed to the Agriculture and Livestock Minister Carlos Giménez.
During the meeting, Dongyu said FAO is encouraging its member states to sustainably increase production such as livestock, which also includes animal breeding, feeding and health, as well as zoonoses.
Giménez, on the other hand, thanked FAO for its technical assistance in the development of Paraguay’s agricultural sectors, and recalled that his government’s promotion of public-private partnerships is increasing investments in agri-food systems to improve meat, milk, bananas and aquaculture products.
