At the Cuban Embassy in Beijing, participants recalled the historic origin of the date and learned more about Cuban culture and China’s imprint on the Cuban nationality.
Ambassador Alberto Blanco stated that during the day, tribute was also paid to the 155th anniversary of the beginning of the struggles for independence, the 75th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), the 220th birthday of poet José María Heredia, and the seven decades of Fidel Castro’s self-defense plea “History Will Absolve Me”.
Blanco noted that the Chinese presence in Cuba for more than 176 years has been an essential element of our identity and “the foundation on which indestructible bonds of friendship and brotherhood have been built.”
“The achievements reached in cultural matters in the history of relations between Cuba and China are countless,” the diplomat added.
The Cuban ambassador pointed out that since bilateral diplomatic relations were established in 1960, several visits by cultural delegations in both directions have been paid.
