Abbas refuses to speak with Biden due to US support for Israel

Tel Aviv, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas refused to speak over the telephone with his US counterpart, Joe Biden, due to Washington's support for Israel in its war against the Gaza Strip, the public radio station Kan revealed on Friday.

According to the source, the conversation should have taken place on Wednesday, following Biden’s arrival in this nation.

White House officials tried to arrange a phone call between the two presidents. Abbas refused the request, Kan reported, quoting an anonymous Palestinian source in Ramallah with knowledge of the matter.

The Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper revealed this week that the United States’ support for Israel in its war has angered the Palestinian Government, which denounced Washington’s biased stance.

Palestinian sources told the newspaper that current relations between Washington and Ramallah are strained by the White House’s support for its main ally in the Middle East.

According to reports, the Joe Biden administration does not want to end the war, on the contrary.
