Rodríguez stressed that the US decision, established for a period of six months, will allow PDVSA to produce, explore, market, sell and export oil.
Another license from the US Treasury will allow prospecting, producing, marketing, selling and exporting gas, in addition to everything related to materials and services for the Venezuelan oil industry.
Rodríguez also mentioned the permits granted by the US to the national mining company, which authorizes transactions for the production and marketing of gold, in addition to the exchange and sale of Venezuelan bonds.
The permits also covered transactions and the provision of services by the Venezuelan Consortium of Industrias Aeronáuticas y Servicios Aéreos S.A. (CONVIASA) for the repatriation of Venezuelans from elsewhere in Latin America.
The legislator estimated that this is a first step toward lifting all sanctions on Venezuela, which is burdened by more than 930 of them.
President Maduro expressed that Venezuela is progressively entering the oil and gas market again with force, and assured that it is prepared for the “new stage of respect, equality and advancement with the United States”. He also called for the reconstruction of a new level of relations based on respect, cooperation and peace throughout the Western Hemisphere, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
