Dozens of information ministers, media executives, journalists and other outstanding figures will debate these issues from January 20 to 24, 2024, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the original Operation Truth, called by the historic leader Fidel Castro to denounce media campaigns against the Cuban Revolution.
Considered at the time the largest press conference in the world, the 1959 event brought together more than 400 foreign journalists in Havana, who could personally witness the reality of the nascent Cuban political process, the object of enormous smear campaigns from the United States.
This mass meeting also highlighted the need for Latin America and the Caribbean to have their own voice in an information scenario dominated by large foreign journalistic monopolies.
So, the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina was established five months later, and it will celebrate 65 years of uninterrupted work at the service of truth on June 16, 2024.
Participants in the forum, who will also exchange ideas with Cuban authorities and experts, will enjoy an interesting program of visits to places of interest, and a stay in the world-famous Varadero beach.
