Cuba won its first victory in boxing at Santiago 2023 Games

Santiago de Chile, Oct 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Fernando Urzola won today his first victory in boxing at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, in the super heavyweight category, due to the no-show of his rival, Delroy Jno Charles, from Dominica.

Urzola is the runner-up in the world championship over 92 kilograms won in the world tournament held this year in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Jno Charles won the silver medal at the recent ALBA Games in Venezuela and there are no explanations so far about his absence in the fight.

The sport of fisticuffs started this Thursday at the Olympic Training Center of the National Stadium Park, located in this capital city.

During the second bout of the day, Cuban Arianne Imbert will be in action against Dominican María Altagracia Moronta and in the male division will be her compatriot Saidel Horta against Mexican Miguel Fernando Vega.
