“The situation in Gaza is getting out of control. Every second we wait for medical help, we lose lives,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote on social networks.
“The supplies are trapped at the border”, Ghebreyesus stated in reference to the thousands of tons of vital products stuck in Egypt due to the impossibility of bringing them into Gaza because of the Israeli bombings. In this regard, he demanded “immediate access to begin delivering life-saving supplies.”
The WFP, urged the warring parties not to attack civilians. “We demand the protection of essential infrastructure such as hospitals and food distribution sites,” the entity wrote, hours after an air strike against a hospital in Gaza caused hundreds of deaths and wounded.
“We call for civilians to be able to access humanitarian delivery points and services,” the WPF stressed.
After the start of the new cycle of violence, on October 7th, Israel decreed a total blockade against the Gaza Strip, which included a ban on the entry of food and medicine, as well as the end of supplies of fuel, water and electricity.
