Israel’s attacks kill more than 3,500 Palestinians

Ramallah, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Ministry of Health informed on Wednesday that 3,540 people have been killed and 13,300 injured since the beginning of Israel's aggression against the occupied territories 12 days ago.

The Ministry said in a press release that the death toll in the Gaza Strip rose to 3,478 and the number of injured to 12,000.

Meanwhile, in the West Bank, 62 deaths and 1,300 wounded have been accounted for so far.

Palestinian Health Minister Mai Al-Kaila warned shortly before that the hospitals in the Gaza Strip are affected by a serious shortage of medicines and supplies due to the total blockade imposed for the last 12 days by Israel.

At a press conference here, the official charged that the situation in the coastal enclave has become catastrophic.

In this regard, she warned that the cuts of water supplies and the deterioration of the sewage system have increased the risks of spreading communicable diseases.

Al-Kaila accused Israel of violating international humanitarian law by attacking medical personnel and healthcare centers.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Food Program (WFP) on Wednesday called for the urgent entry of basic items into the territory to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.

The situation in Gaza is getting out of control. Every second we wait for medical aid, we lose lives,’ WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote on X.

On the same social network, the WFP urged all parties in the conflict not to target civilians.

We call for the protection of essential infrastructure such as hospitals and food distribution sites, the UN agency said hours after an explosion rocked a medical center in Gaza, killing and injuring hundreds.

‘We call for civilians to be able to access humanitarian delivery points and services,’ it stressed.
