For the Ecuadorian sociologist and communicator Irene León, these purposes could be repeated during the administration of Noboa, who publicly presented himself as someone from the center left, giving an air of alleged changes.

“His project is a neoliberal and mercantile one, he intends to occupy the space of the State for his business purposes, and his arrival at the Carondelet Palace undoubtedly tells us where the country will go in the next year and a half,” said León, who is also a member of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, in an interview with Prensa Latina.

The analyst noted that “Noboa came to power as a result of political marketing, that is, due to the ability to buy communication services, mainly digital ones, and mobilize an image, regardless of his government proposals.”

León specified that the option chosen by Ecuadorians is the opposite of the program proposed by the Citizen Revolution (RC) and its candidate Luisa González, who promised to strengthen the role of the State for the common good.

The performance of the RC during a decade of Government (2007-2017) did not please the national or international elites, she said, therefore, corporations, financial capital and other right-wing actors now closed ranks, once again, to inhibit the possibility of its return.
