Cuba underlines global cooperation in Belt and Road Initiative

Beijing, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Wednesday expressed its willingness to contribute to international cooperation, and underlined the commitment of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to multilateralism.

Comptroller General of the Republic Gladys Bejerano highlighted Cuba’s stance when speaking at the thematic subforum on the Clean Silk Road, one of the events of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

During her speech, she denounced the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba as the main obstacle to the country’s development.

Bejerano emphasized that the BRI is an alternative cooperation model based on science and innovation in pursuit of common development.

In another part of her speech, Bejerano expressed Cuba’s support for the construction of an open, inclusive and sustainable economy, which is one of the pillars of the megaproject launched by China 10 years ago.

The Cuban delegation also includes Emilio Lozada, head of the Department of International Relations of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Minister of Higher Education Walter Baluja.
