Venezuela and Belarus relaunched strategic relations

Minsk, Oct 17 (Prensa Latina) The governments of Venezuela and Belarus agreed to relaunch strategic relations of cooperation in the context of the visit of the Bolivarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, to this capital.

The South American diplomat arrived in this city the day before and was received by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Palace of Independence in Minsk on Tuesday.

Gil conveyed to the head of State a fraternal greeting from his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, official sources informed.

After the meeting, the Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic expressed his gratitude to Lukashenko for having received him and noted they agreed to “relaunch economic, commercial and industrial relations” between Venezuela and Belarus, through the Joint Commission.

He revealed that the first step in this direction was to convene this commission for the coming month of November, in this capital.

The head of Venezuelan diplomacy said that they identified the sensitive areas of work such as energy, agri-food, tourism and trade, and also reviewed all the agreements signed.

The meeting was attended by the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serguéi Aléinik, and the director for Latin America of the Foreign Ministry, Dmitri Derevinski, as well as the Bolivarian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs for Europe, Franklin Ramírez.
