“Hundreds of victims are still under the rubble,” Gaza’s Health Ministry said in a statement.
Al-Ahli hospital was housing hundreds of sick and wounded, and people forcibly displaced from their homes, it added.
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari announced that the airstrike report is under review.
“There are many airstrikes, many missed rockets and many fake reports from Hamas,” the military spokesman justified.
Following the news, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared “public mourning for three days and flags at half-mast for the martyrs of the hospital massacre and for all the martyrs of our people,” according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry, on the other hand, strongly condemned the incident and denounced the “deliberate shelling of civilians as a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the most basic values of humanity”.
We urge Israel to immediately stop its policies of collective punishment against the Gaza people, the Foreign Ministry reported.
