Fernández is visiting China to participate in the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the most important diplomatic event organized by Beijing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the megaproject.
“Investment by Chinese companies in Argentina has continued to grow without any additional conditions. China has become Argentina’s largest source of foreign investment in the fields of mining development and infrastructure construction,” Fernández emphasized.
According to Fernández, both parties share common points of view in various fields so greater collaboration within the BRI is possible.
During a brief visit to Shanghai, he highlighted that Argentina is rich in lithium and copper resources, and is an ideal environment for the development of new energy industries.
He also expressed his expectation to increase the frequency of flights to further facilitate exchanges between the two countries. “China has become one of the most desired tourist destinations by Argentines, and Chinese food has gained popularity there,” he commented.
