The Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation is expected to bring together world leaders, businessmen, academics, and civil society representatives from over 110 countries, with the aim of promoting sustainable development and common prosperity.
The forum will be an opportunity to dialogue in a wide spectrum of areas, from trade and investment to infrastructure and culture.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that over the past decade, the Belt and Road Initiative has maintained extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, as well as a sustainable people-centered approach.
China noted that the Road and Belt is aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and has demonstrated synergy with the strategies of various countries.
Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin stressed that one of the most notable achievements of the megaproject is interconnectivity.
According to a World Bank report, investments related to the initiative could lift 7.6 million people out of extreme poverty and 32 million people out of moderate poverty by 2030.
