Our relations are deeply-rooted and historic, and we have the will to foster them in several fields. We appreciate and thank Cuba for its support for Syria, the Syrian minister said.
He added that it would be beneficial for the two countries to take concrete actions in the coordination between scientific and research centers in Syrian and Cuban universities, participate in scientific conferences, exchange professors and students, and make the most from Cuba’s experience.
The Cuban ambassador, in turn, said that Havana, in spite of all the limitations caused by the United States’ blockade, continues to offer scholarships to Syrian youths, even doubling their number in the current academic year.
The diplomat expressed Havana’s willingness to foster cooperation further and put forward several ideas to strengthen the teaching of the Arabic language for Cubans and the Spanish language for Syrians, as well as the possibility of exchanging teachers and students.
