President Maduro receives Mexico’s Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena

Caracas, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro received on Monday in Caracas the Mexican Foreign Secretary Alicia Barcena with the purpose of further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

At office “one” of the Miraflores Palace, Maduro welcomed Barcena alongside the first combatant and MP to the National Assembly Cilia Flores; the Deputy Minister for Latin America Rander Peña, and the Ambassador of Caracas in Mexico Francisco Arias. Barcena arrived in Caracas on Monday morning and as part of her agenda held a meeting with Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.

On her X account, Barcena posted having praised the resumption of the dialogue and negotiation process between the Government and the Unitary Platform in the presence of Mexico, which will take place as from tomorrow in Barbados.

The Norwegian Embassy disclosed on Monday, on social media, that both sides decided to “resume the dialogue and negotiation process” facilitated by that European country.

Those talks will aim at reaching “a political agreement,” as foreseen in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Mexico City on August 13, 2021.

The text underscored that the meetings will begin on October 17, 2023 in Bridgetown, Barbados.
