Jaishankar explained on social networks that a wide range of topics were discussed at the meeting, which was targeted at promoting the strategic partnership between both nations and which was co-chaired by his counterpart Bui Thanh Son.
“Our discussions covered cooperation in the fields of politics, defense and maritime security, judiciary, trade and investment, energy, development, culture, education and training, and science and technology,” Jaishankar stated.
The foreign minister of India pointed out that they also discussed issues related to the Indo-Pacific region, their commitment to global problems, and collaboration in various multilateral groupings.
The official visit to Vietnam by Foreign Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar was covered extensively by the Indian press due to the importance that the ties with Southeast Asia represent for India and the key role of Hanoi in the region.
Jaishankar plans to meet with Vietnamese leaders and will visit Ho Chi Minh City, where he will participate in the unveiling of a bust of Mahatma Gandhi, according to an official statement.
After the visit to Vietnam, Jaishankar will continue his trip to Singapore, where he will carry out an official program on October 19th and 20th, the Ministry of External Affairs of India stated.
