Brussels on high alert as two Swedes killed in shooting

Brussels, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) Brussels is on its highest level of security alert after two Swedes were shot dead in in the centre of the city, and Belgium’s prime minister suggested the attack was linked to terrorism.

The country moved to the fourth level of alert regarding the Coordination Body for the Analysis of Threats (OCAM), which means serious and imminent danger.

Shortly after 19:00, local time, an individual opened fire with a military weapon on several people inside a building and a cab, leaving the crime scene on a scooter.

According to security sources, a footage showed how a man claims to be a member of ISIS and to act in revenge representing Islam.

The material’s authenticity is pending confirmation.

Media outlets reported that the people attacked were wearing the jersey of Sweden, which tonight faces Belgium at the King Baudouin stadium in Brussels in the qualifiers for the Germany-2024 European Football Championship.
