A 45-year-old lawyer by profession and with several positions in the public sector, González was chosen by the CR and its leader, former President Rafael Correa, to promote a project that seeks to put an end to six years of neoliberal policies in Ecuador.
Although she has said that she will not offer a pardon to the former president, who is in asylum in Belgium, after unproven convictions considered for political persecution, Gonzalez assures that she will appoint him as her main advisor.
In interviews, meetings, and in her social networks, the candidate to the Executive affirmed that she will focus on solving the urgent (security, employment), the emergent (El Niño phenomenon), and the permanent (health, education, infrastructure).
In her closing campaign and in the presence of hundreds of followers, she reminded that “they plunged us into violence and there are 280 thousand Ecuadorans who have migrated in the last two years and we want that to stop”.
She assured that in unity she will raise the country and for that, she has plans to implement programs to improve health, education, culture, and sports. The participant in the race for the presidency emphasized: “In the ballot boxes, we will express what we feel in the face of so much abandonment”, and “We have never had an Ecuador so destroyed”.
